A compatible addressable RGB controller is required for color-chasing effects.
Use a regulated 5V power supply sized for the strip’s actual load.
At the rated 12W/m, a 5m strip has a nominal maximum power requirement of 60W, equivalent to 12A at 5V. Actual current depends on the lighting effect and operating conditions.
For a 5m installation, consider power injection, suitable wire gauge, connector ratings, and voltage drop. Do not assume that powering the entire strip through a small controller output connector is safe.
